Meeting on farm policy matters in 2020 with Senator Hoeven, one of the leading Members of Congress for U.S. agriculture. Sen. Hoeven serves on the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee, and chairs the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture.

Our group of producers discussed the following with Senator Cramer: ethanol, trade, conservation, farm programs, crop insurance, and executive branch priorities during a meeting in the Senator's office in 2020. Sen. Cramer serves on the Environment and Public Works Committee and Energy and Natural Resources Committee and has been a helpful voice on agriculture policy matters. He was a leading candidate for Energy Secretary in the Trump Administration.

Meeting with USDA's Risk Management Agency Administrator Martin Barbre, and leaders of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association to discuss key issues in the federal crop insurance program, in 2020. USDA's program serves as the top government sponsored tool for America's producers. This multi-billion insurance backstop is regarded as the number one such program worldwide. Callan previously served as Number Two in the program.

On Capitol Hill, Callan stands with then Chairman Peterson and Alejandro Diaz, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina; Callan organized a meeting with the Chairman for an Argentine delegation of public and private sector officials, whichincluded U.S. companies, to discuss policy matters. The Chairman was gracious with his time and advice.

The legislation had wide support among agriculture and business groups representing a broad swath of the American economy. Callan helped with outreach to Members of Congress and staff.

At the Commodity Classic conference in Phoenix, AZ

During a trip to the 20th annual Commodity Classic, one of the nation's largest agriculture shows, Callan stands before a combine in the exhibit hall of the Phoenix Convention Center. The event provides a platform for producers and businesses involved in four major commodities -- corn, soybeans, wheat, and grain sorghum. He met with producers, tech and equipment companies, discussing current policy and business issues affecting agriculture, including matters before Congress, the Administration, and USDA. Policy meetings help set the issues agenda back in Washington, DC, which informs Callan's work in the Capitol and brings an on-the-ground view.
Thousands attend Commodity Classic with a focus on how to make agriculture work better for the United States and for a growing world population. Callan attended his 11th consecutive "Classic" in San Antonio, TX in 2020. The 2021 event will be virtual.

Callan traveled to North Dakota to meet with growers in Bismarck and Fargo regarding a Risk Management Agency - U.S. Department of Agriculture education partnership involving the North Dakota Corn Growers Association that provides advanced risk management tools to producers, building off expertise from economics professors at North Dakota State University.
His discussion with the then Governor focused on federal crop insurance and risk management education programming. Callan also met with several legislators, including House Majority Leader Al Carlson, and his visit was hosted by Representative Blair Thoreson.

Callan heads to U.S. Embassy in Quito, Ecuador

Callan visited Quito, Ecuador, in 2015, meeting with an Embassy official on agriculture policy issues in the U.S., Ecuador, and South America, and discussed recent developments and opportunities, including an upcoming risk management conference in South America.
Quito, and the surrounding area, was a welcoming place and provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about its role in South America and the potential as well as challenges for U.S. agricultural companies.

Callan at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain

Callan traveled to Valencia and Madrid Spain in 2014, meeting with agriculture officials at our Embassy in Madrid. Areas of interest included the U.S.'s 2014 Farm Bill along with crop protection, biotechnology, and crop insurance in the U.S., Spain, and Europe.

Callan visits New York, NY for meetings with major investment management firms

Callan has met several times with leading investment management companies in New York City to discuss ag policy, impacts of the Farm Bill, commodity prices, federal crop insurance, and renewable fuels.
